While in school, Amanda never made up her mind about what area of theatre she wanted to pursue. Turns out, never making up her mind worked out well and has provided her the opportunity to work in multiple medias in the art. After graduating from Theatre Arts at Algonquin College, Amanda has found herself working in makeup, stage management and performance. She has been kept on her toes, calling the sound and lighting cues for raunchy sketch comedy shows (Dicky Dicky, 2014, Garkin Productions & Just Like You!, 2015, Experimental Farm Theatre). She has created monsters and cut up faces with makeup brushes (Kavalier’s Kuriosities, 2014 & Under Derek’s Bed, 2015, Dead Unicorn Ink). Amanda has parodied the queen of dragons (Game of Bones, 2015, Eddie May Murder Mysteries) and played a fame hungry country dame (The Melville Boys, 2015, Black Sheep Theatre). However, her favourite gig of all, has been partnering up with Lauren to create Toasted Theatre Company, which has given them the opportunity to travel to Orlando, Florida, where they performed as a company for the first time.
Lauren Cauchy is an Ottawa native and a University of Ottawa Theatre Studies graduate. She has worked as a contract arts educator lending her performing, writing and directing skills as camp director and program facilitator for Arts Express Ottawa, as former Drama Coach for the Insight Theatre program and as the instructor for an all girls’ drama program with Christie Lake Kids. She has been creating and performing professionally with Ottawa based companies such as Counterpoint Players, Dead Unicorn Ink, and Vacant House Theatre. Lauren has always been drawn to devised performance and collective creation, and is so excited to found a company dedicated to the creation of new works that star female characters in active, plot driving roles.
